Construção de Orações Negativas

Let's learn how to make negative sentences in English!
Vamos aprender a construir frases negativas em inglês!

Em orações com o verbo "to be", acrescenta-se a partícula NOT após o verbo.

  • English is not difficult.
Não esqueça que as frases negativas podem vir na forma contraída.

I am not studying. = I'm not studying.
You are not fine. = You aren't fine / You're not fine
Japanese is not difficult = Japanese isn't difficult

Com outros verbos, utiliza-se o verbo auxiliar referente ao tempo verbal em questão, seguido da partícula NOT.

  • I do not speak English.
  • Eu não falo inglês.
DO: auxiliary verb (simple present)
NOT: negative

Forma contraída: DO + NOT = DON'T
I don't speak English
  • I did not go to the party.
  • Eu não fui à festa.
DID: auxiliary verb (simple past)
NOT: negative

Forma contraída: DID + NOT = DIDN'T
I didn't go to the party.

  • I will not go to school tomorrow.
  • Eu não irei à escola amanhã.
WILL: auxiliary verb (future tense)
NOT: negative

Forma contraída: WILL + NOT = WON'T
I won't go to school tomorrow.

Após o verbo "can", acrescenta-se a partícula NOT.
  • I cannot play soccer.
  • Eu não consigo jogar futebol.
Forma contraída: CANNOT = CAN'T
I can't play soccer.
